A quick look back at the 90th annual Academy Awards – Oscars 2018 – in pictures

The ceremony was held a few weeks back on the 4th of March in the Hollywood and Highland Center. There have been posts of all kinds to review the event and the winners. To avoid too many unnecessary repetitions and make it painless and quick, I will name only my favourite categories, excluding what I call technical categories and categories that are other than feature films… For a quick glance of the representatives of the movies and for a chance to memorize the actual people who stand behind the names I will try to find photos from the award ceremony.

Congratulations to all the winners!

The complete list of winners of all the categories can be found for example here: http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-42788267.

From the winners I mentioned I have seen all the movies, with the exception of “I, Tonya”. I loved the trailer and plan to see it ASAP 🙂

My personal favourites from the winners above are: Darkest Hour and Get Out.

Of the two big winners of the awards night: “The Shape of Water” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”, I frankly prefer the latter, for the simple reason that in the Shape of Water the over-the-top refined visual takes over the substance and it takes the form of camouflage of something important that is missing in the movie. In short The Shape of Water missed that Je ne sais quoi. All the more I rejoice for the wins of “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”. Bravo! Outstanding!
