Flash news: 24th AIFF, 31st HIFF and 26th Raindance FF

It’s raining film festivals in autumn like in no other season 🙂 I can barely keep up with them 🙂 Here are some of the latest that have caught my attention. By the way, from the three I have been to Raindance in 2016. The founder of the festival is Elliot Grove and I once followed his 3-day master class about script writing in Brussels. 24th Athens International Film Festival (19/9-1/10): Awards

Golden Athena award for Best Film – “The Heiresses” by  Marcelo Martinessi;

City of Athens Best Director Award -“Museum” by Alonso Ruizpalacios;

Best  Screenplay Award – “In the Aisles” by Clemens Meyer and Thomas Stuber.

31st Helsinki International Film Festival (20/9-30/9): News

The HIFF Audience Award went to Boots Riley’s SORRY TO BOTHER YOU.

This Year’s Guest of Honour was director Spike Lee (presented his film BlacKkKlansman) and film actor Shia LaBeouf (presented his documentary film #TakeMeAnywhere) was in attendance as well.

Opening Gala screened Pawel Pawlikowski’s COLD WAR (like in Athens IFF) and Closing Gala screened Kirill Serebrennikov’s  SUMMER (Leto 2018).

26th Raindance Film Festival (27/9-7/10): News

On the 26th of September – Gala Opening – was screened Marialy Rivas’ Princesita (Chile/Argentina/Spain).

On the 28th of September was Guest Country – Chile – Day: Gonzalo Maza talked about his Academy Award-winning movie A Fantastic Woman (Best Foreign Language Film in 2017).

The winner of the Best International Feature was: Marialy Rivas’ Princesita.
